Previous Work History

Prior to helping found Avant IT, Doug worked for several years as Director of Technical Services for a Binghamton-area Value Added Reseller, managing and supervising a team of six performing work at customer sites throughout the region. In years past, Doug worked for a Binghamton-area school district as a Network Administrator, performing a Windows NT 4 to Windows 2000 Active Directory migration and daily technical support responsibility for two schools with 600 students. Other expertise includes time spent at a local corporation as Technical Support Coordinator where he supported users in 20 locations across the east coast on platforms including AS/400, Windows 2000, and Novell NetWare.

Selection of Notable Recent Projects

Planned and implemented Active Directory migration for local school district from Active Directory 2000 to 2003 - 1400 users, 400 workstations, 10 servers, including migration from Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2003. Implemented comprehensive Group Policy structure and overhauled server utilization resulting in streamlined operating overhead. (2006)

Constructed 3-server 150-workstation, 400-user network for Binghamton-area Catholic School. System includes a full Windows 2003 Active Directory rollout with comprehensive Group Policy setup to ensure security and stability as well as utilizing Remote Installation Services for workstation image management. (2005)

Consultant for Small Business Server migration for Binghamton-area architecture firm: planned and implemented parallel implementation of Small Business Server 2003 on 34-user network and migrated all workstations with CYBERCity technical staff in a single eight-hour weekend day, including full email, user file, and other domain-wide functions to result in minimum downtime for customer. (2006)

Planned and carried out a disaster recovery plan during the June 2006 floods,
when his employers offices received 3.5 feet of water in the first floor. The plan resulted in the company having a backup location for servers and Internet access and in spite of needing to move servers (16), the company’s and customer’s systems experienced 4 hours of downtime from power cut-off to complete system relocation.
